WEEK 2 - WATERCOLOR

Updated: Jan 22, 2023

Day 1

This week I have been commissioned to paint a watercolor for a bride and groom. I am really excited to work on this because it is for a close friend that I served with on my mission. I got several images to look at and decide between. I chose a close up and go it all sketched out on the watercolor paper. Then I spent so time researching how to best create a light skin tone that looks like it is being hit by the sun. I have never really done a painting with so much light so I am excited to see how it turns out.

Day 2

I finally finished the painting and learned so much from it. I really liked the way it turned out and the style that I decided to do for the painting. I think the hair turned out really good with the way it depicts the way the hair is flowing. Also, the detail in the suit turned out very crisp which I enjoyed. I am most proud of the skin tone as I watched a lot of videos and tried using more reds, pinks, and oranges than I have in the past. I think it brings out a beautiful brightness and youth to painting and the two subjects.
