WEEK 3 - DIGITAL DOG

Day 1

I started working on a commission for a digital drawing of a dog that is coming to the end of his life. This was a very fun commission as I have never drawn a dog before. Before I started, I got many different pictures of the dog to figure out how I wanted to draw him. Trying to figure out how to outline a dog was a little difficult as I am used to drawing people instead. There was something about trying to draw the back legs that was especially difficult because I don't quite understand dog anatomy.

Day 2

A hard thing that I experienced today was trying to get all of the different colors and shading in the face. I drew it almost in a camo-like fashion to show the different liking that was hitting his face and the different colors that get brought out in that lighting. The most difficult thing that I had to draw was the white spots all over his body. I ended up using a special brush to make the spots and think that it turned out a lot better than I was expecting it to. I actually ended up really liking it but it took a long time to find the brush and get it to look the way I wanted it to.
