WEEK 8 - NICK WILSON

Day 1

This week I tried something a little different. I wanted to learn a new style so I took a photo of my favorite singer and decided to use it as my reference because I loved the wrinkles in his jacket and the different shadow throughout the photo. I started by choosing 10 hues from white to black and using them to show different shadowing effects. I started by outlining everything and making sure it looked the way I wanted. Then I worked on the face. The face was definitely the hardest to figure out because I didn't want too many different shades to over complicate his face. Drawing more simplified is hard for me so I had to focus on shaped and overall hue more than the small details. Same with his hands but I think it looks good.

Day 2

I loved working on the jacket and started to understand how to better look at the overall shaped and color of everything and got in a good groove. I wanted to make his clothes more detailed since it used more darks and can only be seen when you are really trying to look for the detail. The hardest think for me to do today was the background. I wanted it to be blurry but finding the perfect balance was a struggle for a minute. I actually had to download a new brush in order to get it to look how I envisioned it. But I think it turned out really well and I am glad I got to draw something with some restrictions in order to get better at a new style.
